Sir Jim

Our Hot Rocks Radio Family is sad to announce the passing of Sir Jim, an ecclectic talent throughout the stations’ long history.

Rush – Tom Sawyer
Jim Hand, aka Sir Jim, one of our original DJ’s passed away Friday March 14th. Jim and I worked a lot in the early days of Hot Rocks Radio. He had the morning show Monday through Friday and I followed him for the Nooner show. He always had fresh comedy, conversation and tunes for every show. The thing I remember most about Jim is that he had a passion for the band Rush. A show didn’t go by that he would play at least one tune by Rush. Rest in peace my friend. ~ Lex Santana
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of my high school friend and DJ extraordinaire Sir Jim . His show was what I always emulated mine to be like and it’s his inspiration why I am on the air today. Anytime I play a Rush song, it’s always with him in mind. Rest easy old friend. ~ Captain Dave
I never really had the opportunity to work with Sir Jim on the same station but I had heard several of his shows. What a firecracker he could be! What impressed me the most was his sense of humor. Despite my brief interactions with him, this station shall always hold him in high regard for his contributions throughout the years. Rest in peace, rocker! ~ DJ Ria
